LCT Announces Auditions for THE MOUNTAINTOP!

Auditions are officially on the books for LCT's upcoming production of Katori Hall's Tony and Olivier award-winning play, The Mountaintop, a gripping re-imagination of events the night before the assassination of the civil rights leader Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Auditions will be held on Monday, December 13 with callbacks taking place on December 14th. Both sessions will be from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. at the Weber Center for the Performing Arts.

Katori Hall's The Mountaintop is a two-person production, performed straight through in its 90-minute entirety with no intermission.

We are seeking performers for the following roles:

  • MARTIN LUTHER KING, JR. | Male-Identifying | Black/African Descent | 30-40 | MLK at the time was 39. Nobel Peace Prize-winning civil rights movement leader. Awe-inspiring, charming, and powerful with a bruting intelligence and almost hidden vulnerability. He can sometimes present as older than his true age. While being a brilliant orator, impassioned preacher, and a fearless leader, he is more than the hero in our history books. Brewing underneath is a human carrying all the vulnerability, fear, and weariness of an unquenchable lust for life.
  • CAMAE | Female-Identifying | Black/African Descent | 20-30 | A young maid at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. She is charming, confident and MLK’s equal. And although deeply human and vulnerable, there is much more to her than is first revealed. She owns the power of her convictions and sensuality, with an “other worldly” strength. Carries a secret.
