LCT's 60th Anniversary Season Announced!
We are beyond thrilled to announce our 60th Anniversary Diamond Celebration Season! Not only are we celebrating our legacy as an arts organization in La Crosse, but we are celebrating ten years in our Front Street home as we continue bringing theatrical magic to the city of La Crosse and the entire Coulee Region. All of the productions this season will be the first time that these titles have made an appearance on the stages of our downtown home, ensuring that there is something for everyone as we celebrate our heritage and lay the foundation for our future.
BROADWAY SERIES
This season, the Broadway Series will comprise three smash-hit classics as well as a production brand new to LCT to give you a season celebrating the vast ties that bond us as a community and celebrate what it means to be human and find your place in the world. We open this season of “Tradition” with the seminal classic Fiddler on the Roof. Then, “there’s no place like home” for the holidays with our production of The Wizard of Oz. The spring will see you all in stitches with a new production of Neil Simon’s The Odd Couple. This series will close out with an LCT premiere that is on its way to becoming an American classic, Steve Martin and Edie Brickell’s new musical, Bright Star.
BLACKBOX SERIES
The Blackbox Series will offer three LCT premieres that take a look at what constitutes a family and how each of us play a part in uplifting or altering our own family dynamics that have been established. First, you’ll step into the Christmas celebration of a “typical” midwestern family as they navigate the holidays together in A Nice Family Christmas. Up next, is a look at married life in Jason Robert Brown’s time-bending musical, The Last Five Years. The season closes with a knock at the door as Nora - from Henrik Ibsen’s classic play - returns to confront the home she left behind 15 years prior in A Doll’s House, Part 2.
STAGED READING SERIES
New to LCT this season is our Staged Reading Series. These productions – rehearsed in only two weeks and presented with scripts in-hand at music stands and with minimal staging – give our audiences a chance to simply listen and revel in the story being told. Up first is a new work by LCT veteran, Jonathan Lamb entitled Adventures Await. Following that, we will present James Goldman’s classic play, The Lion in Winter, which tells the story of the Plantagenet family in 1183 and their unyielding attempts to take control of the Aquitaine in France. Our second offering, Come Back, is a contemporary piece that explores friendship and the depths that one will go to fulfill a friend’s final wishes. Lastly, The Enduring Families Project will take up residence to present a look at the histories of the 19th Century African Americans of La Crosse.
THEATRE FOR YOUNG AUDIENCE SERIES
This year's TYA series provides families with the chance to enrich the lives of their young ones with shows about exploration, creativity, and individuality, sure to delight audiences of all ages. Dive into the mind of a young creative writer in Frindle. Explore the world of science with the interactive Doktor Kaboom: Look Out! Science is Coming! Witness a caring friendship blossom in the E.B. White classic, Charlotte’s Web.
